About

A/Prof Andrew Teichtahl is a senior staff specialist at the Alfred Hospital and previously the National Health and Medical Research Council Fellow at the Baker International Diabetes Institute. He is a Chief Investigator on two clinical trials funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC).  A/Prof Teichtahl has authored over 75 publications in internationally peer-reviewed journals examining osteoarthritis, gout, biological drugs and infections in immunocompromised patients. He has also authored several book chapters.  A/Prof Teichtahl has been an invited speaker at both national and international conferences.

A/Prof Teichtahl was awarded his MBBS with Honours at The University of Melbourne whilst his Doctorate of Philosophy was completed at Monash University. A/Prof Andrew Teichtahl has also been awarded a Bachelor of Physiotherapy with Honours (La Trobe University). A/Prof Teichtahl supervises higher degree students at Monash University and participates in training undergraduate medical students and advanced training in Rheumatology.

Andrew has a keen interest in adult rheumatology in both inflammatory and mechanical musculoskeletal health, as well as connective tissue disorders. The modern era of biological agents for the management of conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis has enhanced the life of many patients failing to respond adequately to conventional therapies.

A/Prof Andrew Teichtahl has admitting rights at Knox Private Hospital as well as consulting at four convenient locations.
